Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris has said that NASA’s push for electoral reforms before the repeat presidential election is unstoppable.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Passaris said that NASA will not be cowardice or intimidated by the Jubilee government or the police to stop weekly anti-IEBC protests.
She said that their (NASA) quest for electoral reforms is for the interest of Kenyans, adding that they (opposition) will continue with protests until when IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and others who allegedly bungled the August presidential election are out office.
Passaris claimed that Jubilee is using the police to intimidate and harass peaceful protestors who are taking part in the weekly anti-IEBC protests.
“We want to warn the police that they have no right to use force on peaceful demonstrators and also tell them that they have no powers to stop our peaceful protests,” she said during the interview.
The Nairobi ODM Woman Rep claimed that Jubilee is not interested in credible repeat presidential election.
She alleged that Jubilee wants the IEBC to conduct repeat election without major reforms being done in order to create room for rigging.
Passaris maintained that NASA will participate in October repeat 26 presidential election only if its electoral reform demands are fully addressed.
The Woman Representative at the same time urged NASA supporters not tire up and turn out in the weekly peaceful anti-IEBC demonstrations.
She appealed to the protesters to maintain peace during the protests stating that it is their constitutional right to picket.
NASA is holding weekly protests (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to push for electoral reforms.
The opposition is pushing for the removal of Chiloba and others for allegedly bungling the August 8 presidential election.
