The prosecution desk told presiding Chief Resident Magistrate James Mwaniki that the accused persons were arrested by Traffic Police officers along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway between 8 and 10am on Monday while travelling in public transport vehicles while not fitting on safety belts that were available in the vehicles.

The Court was told that the passengers were deliberately breaking the public transport regulations that require anyone travelling in Public Service Vehicles to fit on safety belts upon entering a vehicle.

The accused pleaded guilty to the offence and were fined Sh500 each.

In the same court, a woman who allegedly assaulted her neighbour’s child after the child injured her own while the two were playing was released on a Sh10,000 cash bond before the hearing of the case on April 9.

The Court had heard that the accused (Victoria Wamboi, 29), who is a beauty shop attendant at London Estate within Nakuru town at around 6pm on March 14 assaulted master John Mwangi aged 8 by repeatedly hitting him on the head using a stone after he had accidentally injured his playmate Denis Njoroge who is her son.

The Magistrate was told that the assailant had inflicted serious bodily harm to the minor out of malice and went ahead to threaten her mother Juliet Waithera with similar actions should she not refrain her son from socialising with her child.

The Court was told that the accused was arrested by Police officers from Nakuru Central Police Station on March 15 after the minor’s parents reported the matter to Police and given a green light to attain a P3 form after the kid was treated at Nakuru County General Hospital.

The accused denied the charges and was released on a Sh30,000 cash bond. The case will be heard on April 9.
