Some passengers have protested against a public service vehicle matatu in Machakos County.
The lot who were traveling from Machakos town to Nairobi City threatened to alight the vehicle at Gateway Mall in Mavoko along Nairobi - Mombasa Road on Monday.
They accused the matatu's driver of reckless driving, over speeding, drunkenness, misconduct and consuming Khat (muguuka) while driving.
"We are tired of this recklessness by matatu operators who can easily cause accident," passenger Eliud Kithuku said.
The passengers demanded for their fair refunds so as to take other vehicles to the city.
Kithuku said the driver overtook other vehicles carelessly at Mlolongo Weighbridge along the highway.
"We cannot allow insanity to take course in the public transport vehicles that can lead to loss of our lives," another passenger Agnes Wanja said.
Wanja said there was high rate of indiscipline among the drivers operating on Machakos County roads.
They said most of the drivers make phone calls while driving on the busy Mombasa Road.
The passengers called for the government's intervention to crack down on the rogue drivers so as to prevent road carnage.
Three people died on the spot in two different road accidents in Machakos County over the weekend.
Two died after a truck and pickup crashed head on at Lukenya on Nairobi - Mombasa Road on Saturday while another died on Kangundo Road accident in Matungulu Sub County on Sunday.
