Passengers were stranded at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa for more than 12 hours after flights from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were delayed.
The interuptions were caused by inconveniences at JKIA’s main runway in Nairobi on Sunday evening, after an aircraft from Somalia crash-landed, with four people on-board.
However, no passenger was injured.
Some Mombasa residents reported that they had spent the night at the airport while waiting for their loved ones and friends to arrive.
James Nzuiya, a taxi driver in Mombasa, said he was expecting over 10 guests, that were to attend a conference on Sunday night in North Coast.
He added: “We were told there were flights scheduled for 7:25pm, 7:30pm, 8:40pm and 9:40pm. The only flight that landed was at 4.50pm.''
The passengers blamed Kenya Airways for not informing them that there would be delays to the flight schedules.
