A past interview on national television has come to haunt Kenyan-born Australian Senator Lucy Gichuhi. This comes after it emerged that she used taxpayers cash to ferry relatives during her birthday party.
Gichuhi has landed in more trouble over remarks she made during an interview on JKL hosted by Jeff Koinange in January this year during an interview on Citizen TV.
She stated that her Sh16 million annual salary was not 'a lot'.
"Yes, my salary it is somewhere on the website, I don't look at it because it comes into the bank, but it's not a lot of money by the way," she stated.
Gichuhi added that Australian legislators were hard working and didn't need any compensation.
"Politicians and I mean Australian politicians, work so hard 24/7, nobody, and I mean nobody can compensate them for the work they do," she added.
Gichuhi was sworn into the Australian Parliament last year becoming the first black African member of the Federal Parliament.
Her remarks have caused public uproar following the shameful scandal regarding her conduct as a Senator. The Kenyan-born politician has been criticised widely after she was found to have used public funds to settle her personal bills.
Gichuhi is now expected to face Parliament to explain why she used taxpayers cash to fly her relatives during her party.
