A pastor found himself in trouble with mourners after he took more time preaching during a funeral service.
Angry mourners started murmuring complaining about time and the pastor identified as Patrick Onyuri tried to calm them down, the mourners roughed him up and forced him to leave the funeral before the deceased was buried.
The incident happened on Friday in Kiro village, Kenyenya Kisii County.
“Onyuri took a lot of time preaching prompting to attack as he tried to calm down the mourners who were murmuring,” said one of the mourners identified as Nyamao.
Nyamao said the pastor was rescued from the jaws of death with police officers from Kenyenya who were on patrol.
Isaac Thuranira, Kenyenya police boss confirmed the incident and condemned the locals for beating the man of God.
“We are investigating what prompted the attack. We have instructed the pastor to go to the hospital and bring a medical report before we can arrest the suspects and take them to court to be charged over the assault,” he said.
