A pastor has been arrested over motorcycle theft syndicate in Gilgil sub-county.

Reuben Njenga, a pastor at Washindi Congeragation Church based in Gilgil town, was arrested on Tuesday evening by Administration Police officers following a tip off from loyal citizens.

Its believed that the pastor had been colluding with other people to steal motorcycle in Nakuru County and sell them in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.

According to William Onyango who is a Bodaboda operator in Gilgil, the pastor has been working as an agent of theft adding that many people have lost their bikes under unclear circumstances.

Onyango also alleged that the pastor had been colluding with other Bodaboda operators to steal their employer’s bike and claim to have been robbed off the motorcycle by unknown robbers.

"The pastor had been working as an agent in motorcycle theft syndicate,” claimed Onyango.

During the raid which led to the arrest of the pastor, two unregistered motorbikes were recovered together with several spares in the pastor's house about a kilometre from Gilgil town.

Area Assistant Chief Maurice Maungu, who led the operation to arrest the pastor, said the man of God will assist in the investigation that will lead to the arrest of his accomplices.

“The pastor will assist us with the investigation to arrest all the squad that has been stealing motorbikes in this area,” said Chief Maungu.

The pastor is being held at Gilgil Police Station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
