A Nairobi pastor accused of getting money by pretense has been charged at a Nakuru court.

Pastor Zachary Njoroge was accused of receiving Sh600,000 from Jane Ndung'u in pretence that he would sell her two second-hand plane engines from Kenya Airways.

According to the Standard, the Nairobi Jehovah Jireh church pastor allegedly committed the offence on different dates this year between February 22 and April.

Ms Ndung'u said the pastor pretended to be a senior employee at Kenya Airways and she eventually deposited the money in his bank account.

"We knew each other as we had met at a church function in Thika. He was a youth leader. The deal sounded nice to me and I felt my time had come and we sealed the deal," said Ndungu.

She said Njoroge switched off his phone after he received the cash.

He however denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh200,000.
