A Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Pastor Peter Otwere, decried cases of soothsayers swindling unsuspecting members of public of their money and other resources in the name of giving them protective potions against witchcraft.

Speaking at Nyamasankwa village during a church service to condole the family of the late Johnstone Miyoge, the pastor expressed concern over rising number of soothsayers in the area.

He said many unsuspecting people had fallen prey to false prophets who con them money and other valuables under the guise of treating them against diseases.

"It is worrying that people have turned to black magic and misleading services of soothsayers who continue impoverishing unsuspecting members of the public through queer administration of black magic in the name of treating and protecting them against witchcraft," stated Otwere.

He warned area residents to be wary of mushrooming cartels of soothsayers claiming to have experience from various parts of the world, only to con them before shifting their bases from one area to the other to avert being discovered for giving false soothsaying information.
