Nyali parliamentary aspirant Mohammed Ali, formerly of KTN’s Jicho Pevu has told youth to wake from their slumber, take up leadership positions and steer the country in the right direction.
Ali has launched a rigorous campaign and is optimistic of winning the Nyali MP seat after the August 8 election. He has been crisscrossing the constituency marketing his candidature reminding residents time had come for young people to take charge of the constituency.
He is facing a tight contest as his main challenger is Governor Hassan Joho’s cousin, Said Abdallah who controversially defeated him during the ODM nominations in April 22.
“My biggest task of the day is to live by my word. I do not make promises that I cannot fulfill. Youth need to wake and take control of this country. We are tired of the same old fake promises. Kenya belongs to us all. It is time to remove power from the power-brokers and give it back to the people of Nyali constituency,” Moha said on Tuesday.
Nyali is presently represented in Parliament by Hezron Awiti who will not be defending his seat in August. Awiti will be challenging Joho for the seat of Governor.
Moha was recently chosen to lead an umbrella body of youthful independent candidates vying for various elective seats in Mombasa County. The independents will be holding meetings, strategizing on how to defeat contenders claimed to have rigged the party primary elections.
