About 2,000 Pastoralists under a national government livestock insurance scheme in Isiolo county who protested over payment delays have been advised to be more patient.
County livestock director Mohammed Dokata said the insurance firms were still preparing the cheques before they issue them out to the pastoralists.
"The payments will be received once the insurance firms complete preparing the cheques. I urge the pastoralists to be patient as this will bring sorted out," said the director.
The beneficiaries from 10 wards on the county led by Deko Wario of Sericho said the government had pledged to disburse the cash last month but failed to honor the promise.
Wario threatened that the pastoralists will take to streets if the money is not disbursed in time.
Wario called on county governor Mohamed Kuti to intervene and help them get the cash since they get brokers may squander the cash.
