Nakuru residents have continued to react on social media concerning the idea of a Nakuru pastor who handcuffed a couple while officiating their wedding on Sunday.

Majority termed the act by the pastor as exaggerated, and wondered what the symbolism of handcuffs in a marriage was.

"There are holy symbols to be used in marriage like rings, cross among others, but handcuffs are for criminals,’’ commented Pastor Benson Munge of Full Gospel Churches of Kenya.

Members of the Nakuru Watchdog WhatsApp group demanded to know how the pastor got the handcuffs which should be a state asset only accessible to law enforcers.

“The police need to investigate the source of the handcuffs or how they landed in the pastor's hands, whoever gave them out might give out some dangerous equipment which again may fall in criminal hands,’’ said Julius Ngetich.

‘’If I was the couple I would not have allowed the pastor to handcuff us on our wedding day, it’s a bad omen,” quipped Josephine Wangai.

The reactions came after a story by a local media showed the couple; Dennis Kariuki and Cecilia Wanjira whose wedding took place at Metro Pentecostal Church in Nakuru handcuffed by Pastor Mike Brawan.

The two remained handcuffed until the time they signed their marriage certificate.
