Governor James Ongwae applauded Kisii residents for heeding the call for the free medical services courtesy of The Kisii County Government that aimed at helping vulnerable individuals who, due to poverty cannot afford the usually expensive surgical services.

Speaking on Friday when he visited patients at the hospital, Ongwae said his government had identified 25 specialist doctors around the country to offer collective surgeries to hundreds of patients.

On his side, the facility’s main doctor, Meshack Ong'uti, who presided over the exercise congratulated the Kisii County Government for the initiative that has seen many patients getting expensive services for free.

“The exercise has seen many children with various complications in nature and other people with special medical conditions get the free service which is usually expensive. We have also performed plastic surgery to those who needed the service," he said.

The no-pay service attracted patients beyond Kisii borders like Nyamira, Kisumu, Migori, Kisumu, among others who came to be treated on different health problems.
