Operations in various health facilities across the country were halted as nurses downed tools, Monday.
At Kisumu County Hospital, patients were left stranded and unattended as some were told to seek treatment from private hospitals.
Ochieng Osano said they were wondering why their medical files could not be availed to them even after being told to go seek treatment elsewhere.
“There is a nurse who took the files and told us she is coming but until now we are yet to see her,'' he said.
Eunice Aching who had been operated on Monday and discharged on Friday was told to report back Monday for her child to be given the first injection.
Other patients turned away were pregnant women who went for normal clinics.
The nurses who later took to the streets faulted the national government for failing to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) seeking to harmonize salaries of all civil servants.
