When he was 6 years, their family moved to Mbilini in Kangundo division.
After finishing primary in DEB Kangundo primary school and Alliance high school in Kiambu, he enrolled for a journalism course at Makerere university from 1948-1950.
Paul Ngei was among those arrested with Jomo Kenyatta and later came to be known as, "the Kapenguria six."
When he was released in 1961, he started Akamba people's party.
In 1969, he was elected Mp for Kangundo constituency. He was re-elected Mp four times.
He was Kangundo Mp till 1990 when Joseph Kimeu won in a by-election.
Paul died in August 15, 2004 after battling diabetes.
