Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has dismissed calls by President Uhuru Kenyatta to to cut public servants' salaries.

Speaking on Wednesday, Bosire said that reducing salaries for senior government officials cannot address the ballooning wage bill, urging the country to instead invest heavily in production.

“We face the wage bill problem because the country is not producing but consuming. The leadership is not spurring the economy equally countrywide and Kenyans are both angry and hungry,” he said.

The legislator further slammed the Jubilee administration for failing to transform the country economically as pledged by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the run up to the 2013 general elections.

President Kenyatta made the calls during the his 4th State of the Nation Address.

The speech delivered by the head of state elicited mixed reactions from Jubilee and the opposition legislators.
