Uasin Gishu County Executive in charge of Finance and Planning CPA Julius Rutto has called on the business community in Eldoret and its environs to submit their revenues as required by law.
Speaking to main slaughterhouse stakeholders at the County chambers on Wednesday, Ruto stated that the only way the county government will realize its objectives was by maximizing revenue collection to fund its projects.
He further said that County Government of Uasin Gishu will continue providing a conducive environment for the business community to undertake their daily activities.
Besides remitting required dues, the County Executive asked the meat sellers and handlers to maintain high hygiene standards citing that their products are consumed in Eldoret town and its environs.
On the other hand, the businessmen laid their concerns on the working conditions at the slaughterhouse. Their main concern being understaffing and lack of staff name tags.
Rutto, however, said that the County Government will mobilize its concerned department to ensure that service delivery is enhanced.
Health County Executive Eveline Rotich who was also present said that her department will not relent in enforcing the law.
“Matters of health should be taken with the seriousness it deserves. Compliance should be adhered to. This is food that we all consume,” said Rotich.

He assured the stakeholders that government will take swift actions such as closing the facility for renovations, asking the business men to be patient.
