As the government introduced free education in the country to give every child an opportunity to study by subsidising their fee, some parents are not participating in paying the remaining part.
According to Hema secondary school principal, James Momanyi, parents who do not pay the other remaining amount of the school fees apart from what the money paid will be arrested
Speaking in his school during the price giving day Momanyi said the government pays some amount of school fees for children in all public schools and the remaining amount should be paid by parents but some are not cooperating.
“We have some students in our school who can't proceed with their studies because they lack fees, even if the government offer free education there is an amount that the parent should pay,” said Momanyi.
Momanyi asked Kisii county parents to give the first priority in the education sector and participate in paying the school fee to avoid being arrested.
