The parents fear that failure to pay teachers their arrears might have a negative impact on the national exams results.

Maseno North sub county Parents Association chairperson Gilbert Ogolla has said that teachers are operating without September salaries and this has demoralized them.

Mr Ogolla on phone claimed that the government has clearly indicated that it does not value education of the Kenyan child.

"If our national government really cares about education, the September salaries should have been disbursed already as ordered by the court," said Mr Ogolla.

He added that teachers too have bills to pay and cannot work properly knowing that they have needs to take care of yet there is no money.

"It is really unfortunate that this had to happen at such a time when KCPE candidates are preparing for the national exams. These children will have difficulties in answering questions," he said.

He added that the government, through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) was being hypocritical by asking teachers to return to class during their recent strike, something teachers honoured yet TSC does not want to play its part.

He called on government to pay teachers for the sake of students sitting for their national exams.
