Nakuru PCEA Church Umoja Parish has promised to conduct rehabilitation programmes for the youths who are addicted to drugs and substances in Lanet area as one of the missions of the church aimed at creating a positive change in the society.
Speaking on Wednesday at PCEA Imani Church in Lanet Umoja during a sensitisation seminar for the youths, Reverend David Gikonyo Ng’ang’a also advised the addicted youths to start income generating projects to help them raise their own income.
"We as a church are committed at ensuring positive change in the lives of people and families affected by drug abuse. Part of our plan is also to encourage the youths to form groups and contribute money that will enable them to start income generating projects instead of engaging in drugs," Gikonyo said.
Reverend Gikonyo also noted that they will partner with the county government among other parties in ensuring the success of the program.
"The church will work together with the county government of Nakuru, Equity Bank and Care-Tech Medical Limited (CTM) in engaging the youths in sporting activities while also sponsoring students who may have dropped out of school to complete their studies," he added.
