Kisumu East District Peace Committee Chairman Anthony Muite has asked the national government to transfer police officers who have served in Kisumu County for long.
Muite said that they are rampant cases of insecurity in Kisumu East sub-county can be curbed if officers are regularly transferred.
“In Kisumu East District, we are facing insecurity in areas like Manyatta, Nyalenda, Obunga, Migosi, and Mamboleo, there are armed robbers who are terrorising the Kisumu residents on the said estates,” said Muite.
Muite said that no reports of arrest in Baraka, Some, Manyatta and Migosi areas, even after residents aired their complaints.
Speaking to journalists at Victoria Park, he said that action needs to taken, adding that the robbers might be working closely with officers in the police stations.
“Those police officers who have stayed longer than four years should be transferred to give way for new police officers,” said Muite.
Job Ogoda, a member of District Peace Committee, Kisumu East said he is concerned over the persistent lack of security.
“We should not have robbery cases occurring frequently. Our intelligence committee and the police force should be able to get on top of the matters,” said Ogoda.
“Failure to which it will scare off the investors and it is going to scale down the progress that has been gained in Kisumu so far,” he added.
