The message of peace was propagated by everyone who had a chance to speak during the swearing-in of Boniface Oduory as the new SOMU president of Maseno University.

The event that was attended by students and staff took place at the college campus grounds on Monday afternoon.

Speaking at the event, Opande Kweya, the Dean of Students, told the new president that his key role was to ensure peaceful co-existence among the students.

He continued to say the president and his cabinet should ensure that the all tribal boundaries separating the students are cleared so that the students see themselves as one.

“Peaceful co-existence will help stop incidents of student unrests witnessed at the university of late,” said Opande.

Proper management of funds was also addressed in that the president was told to oversee good use of the finances allocated to his office.

The President was told to ensure he champions for the rights of students and be self-driven to do good.

Besides this, he was told not to forget his studies as that was his core activity at the university.
