[Eldas MP-elect Adan Keynan speaking during the event. They want the North Eastern counties to unite and work together.] (facebook.com)Leaders in Wajir on Monday called on residents of the far-flung county to unite and work together as the new governor takes over office.
Eldas MP-elect Adan Keynan led local leaders in marshaling support for newly elected county chief Mohamed Abdi Mohamud who was sworn-in for a five-year term at Wajir stadium.
Mohamed (Jubilee Party) trounced the county’s first Governor Ahmed Abdullahi (ODM) during the August 8 general election.
“There is need for all the political, religious and social leaders of Wajir to work together in order to better the lives of the people of this great county,” Keynan who ditched ODM and joined Jubilee Party in the run up to August 8 said.
“Let’s give the new administration humble time and space as they seek to deliver on their pledges.”
Keynan’s call for peace and unity came two months after suspected al Shabaab fighters attacked KDF soldiers in the county.
