Road users along Mwiki road have raised concern over the on-going road repairs which they said are causing heavy traffic jams especially during peak hours.
Speaking on Thursday, James Mukaya, a Mwiki matatu driver said they are making losses as a result of the repairs since they are not able to make as many trips as they do on a normal day.
Mr Mukaya suggested that traffic police should be deployed along the road to direct vehicles to the opposite lane which is not usually busy since most vehicles move in the same direction during rush hours.
He also called on the contractor to do the repairs during off-peak hours in order to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles more so during the peak hours.
In support of this, another motorist, Peter Kang’ethe called upon the management of the company doing the repairs to do them at night in order to enable Kenyans to continue with their business without much interruption.
Efforts to speak to the contractor were fruitless as workers on the ground refused to give both mobile and office numbers of their bosses fearing consequences.
