A pedestrian died after he was knocked down by a speeding lorry at a black spot along the Matuu – Mwingi highway in Yatta Sub County on Tuesday.
Area police boss Edward Changach confirmed the incident and said the accident occurred at Kivandini area.
He said a speeding lorry traveling from Matuu to Mwingi hit the man killing him on spot.
“This is area is a known black spot but motorists still don’t observe road rules. A roadblock will be here temporarily to arrest careless motorists and arraign them in court,” he said.
Changach urged residents to be keen when walking on the road because most drivers of recent have been a target.
“Pedestrians should walk on the road carefully and cross the road when it is clear to avoid unnecessary deaths,” he added.
