Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has reacted angrily to a report released on Tuesday that mentioned only his name amongst many leaders, who own foreign accounts in Swiss with high deposits of money.
While addressing journalists on Tuesday evening, Muthama stated that his name was being dragged into muddy scandals by people who have intentions of destroying his political career.
“I have seen a report that mentioned only me among 238 leaders who are alleged to own accounts in Switzerland. I don’t understand why it’s only my name appearing among all of them,” said Muthama.
“I have been fighting corruption and tribalism in our Country and have become a big enemy to some great people who are corrupt. I do not own any foreign account that is illegal and this is a malicious attempt to threaten my fight against corruption,” added Muthama.
He however explained that as the Chairman of Gemstones Company, he had a business project that needed an account in a Swiss bank as it involved sending and receiving funds for the company.
“I assure the people who elected me that I will continue fighting for what is right despite people trying to drug my name into corrupt cases. That account does not exist anymore, I used it in a private project with the Gemstone Company and after the processes were over, I closed it,” noted Muthama
Muthama further said he would fight corruption at all costs, without fear despite being threatened.
