Opposition leader Raila Odinga last week refuted claims that he intends to vie for the presidency in 2022.

Raila who has unsuccessfully contested for the country's top seat four times, however, according to politicians close to him may take another stub at the presidency during the poll.

His wife Ida Odinga despite the talk on whether he will be on the ballot again revealed on Sunday that the people who will make the final decision on whether the former Langata MP will vie the country's top seat are members of his nuclear family.

Ida is considered Raila's close adviser and that before the former prime minister makes any political decision that has far reaching effects to the country, he always consults her.

Members of Raila's nuclear family include his wife Ida, his children- Rosemary, Winnie and Raila Odinga Jnr, his brother who is East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Dr Oburu Odinga as well as his sister, former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga.

Raila is pushing for the amendment of the 2010 Constitution and one of the aims is to allegedly create the posts of prime minister and deputy prime ministers. It is not yet clear whether he will benefit by occupy one of the new proposed positions.

He recently met President Uhuru Kenyatta at the commander in chief's Harambee office in Nairobi and Central Organisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli two weeks ago revealed that the two top leaders may work together during the 2022 poll.
