Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has encouraged Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in the county not to shy away from applying for the 30 per cent government tenders.
Speaking to a section of PLWDs at the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday, Mbugua said that persons with disability are shying away from the tenders.
Then governor said that the county has received minimal applications for tenders from persons with disabilities.
Mbugua said his government has put in place strategies to empower people with disability. He added that his government has accommodated and included disabled persons in leadership positions.
The governor who donated a wheelchair to Eunice Atieno said that people with disabilities must be protected.
He called for enactment of laws and policies that will agitate for the rights of disabled persons in the county.
Mbugua further asked representatives for persons with disability to be on the front-line and fight for the rights of members.
He said that PLWDs must voice issues affecting them to the government.
