NASA coalition leaders arrive at the IEBC offices before the August 8 general elections. [Photo/Raila Odinga/Facebook]It has been established that opposition's NASA affiliate parties will convene for a retreat come mid January 2018.The affiliate parties include the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya (WDM -K) Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya. The political parties' leaders include former Prime Minister Raila Odinga (Nasa president), former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka (Nasa deputy president), former Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, respectively. The retreat follows calls by Musyoka, just a day after he landed from a two-months visit in Germany.During his visit to the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze's Kyondoni home in Kabati, Kalonzo said there was need for the coalition to have a retreat that will involve all elected leaders of the coalition including top members.Kalonzo had visited the home to condole with the family and the people of Kitui West following the death of his close ally.He said the retreat would be used to discuss and deliberate on crucial issues in the coalition and the country's political future. There were rumours of discord in the coalition following parliamentary committee elections and the retreat would as well be used to settle such alleged cracks.According to the ODM chairman and National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, the retreat would as well be used to put on the table Nasa programme including the highly anticipated swearing-in of Odinga and Musyoka as president and deputy president respectively.Kalonzo said he would be sworn in with Odinga if President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto fail to dialogue with Nasa over electoral injustice. The controversial inauguration which was postponed from December 12, Odinga said would be held early 2018. Details and venue of the ceremony are yet to be established.
