The residents of Matungulu Sub-County seeking to employ domestic workers have been urged to agree with them first with regards to undergoing a medical check-up instead of forcing them.

Speaking from his office on Thursday, the Matungulu Sub-County labour officer Philip Makau said that residents who employ domestic workers should come into agreement with their employees on whether they are willing to go for a medical check-up before employment or not.

The officer also added that no domestic worker should be forced to be examined if they are not ready and that employers should instead focus on those who are willing.

“No domestic worker should be forced to go for a check-up against their will because they may not have the courage to open up about some of the diseases that they might be suffering from for example,” said the officer.

He also said that employers should consider paying the medical charges of their employees incase they get sick.
