There was a smile at last painted on people living with disability is Bonchari sub-county as they benefited from assorted kits from the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya on Sunday.
The kits presented to the disabled at St Peters Suneka High school on Sunday included barber toolkits, crutches, farm implements, knitting machines, sewing machines, tricycles, welding machine and wheelchair among others.
According to the Director of Persons with Disability in Kisii County, Dan Mayuya the beneficiaries come from different parts of the sub county and the programs will be extended to all sub counties of Kisii County.
“This is to make sure that the physically challenged persons have a source of livelihood by starting their own businesses,"
said Mayuya.
He said that some of the beneficiaries included the physically handicapped, visually impaired and the deaf.
He added that the government pays a monthly stipend to over 100 persons with severe disabilities in some selected sub counties within the region.
The officer applauded the organization for assisting the less fortunate people in the society.
Alred Toel, a beneficiary said they are happy to see that they have got some help from the county government that will see them become financially independent.
