Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD) in Uasin Gishu have challenged Governor Jackson Mandago to ensure appointments in key positions comply with the constitution that requires representation from the disabled.

The National Council of People Living with Disabilities (NCPD) Uasin Gishu Coordinator Titus Yego says the county government needs to consider allocating at least five percent of all key appointments to the PWDs.

"Key positions in the county include County Executive Committee Members (CeCs), Chief Officers as well as directors," noted Mr. Yego in Eldoret town on Wednesday.

He noted that inclusion in county appointments especially on key positions will ensure interests for the PWDs are taken good care of.

"5 per cent is not too much to ask from us since we also need representations in the devolved units so that those individuals can be able to champion for our interests," Yego said.

"Whenever there are such positions available, the administration should always get in touch with that we ask our members to apply," he added.

This comes at a time Governor Mandago is expected to reconstitute his administration after he was reelected.

Already, 10 CeC positions and 16 Chief Officers posts in the county have been advertised with dateline for submission of applications set for September 4.
