Persons living with disabilities (PWD) from Baringo county have expressed with dissatisfactions the gazetted list of names released on Tuesday for members nominated to the county assembly.

Out of 16 members, none was nominated from the cluster of PWD in Baringo.

In a press briefing converged by the PWDs at Kabarnet town led by their chairman Dominic Kiboino and the secretary Richard Cherutich, the group said they are going to move to court and block the nomination list for Baringo until the constitution is adhered to, saying their rights have been violated and they won’t keep watching.

Cherutich said that it’s unfortunate as even after several people living with disabilities applied for nominations they were locked out by the parties and also accused IEBC for not being sensitive with the slots they gazzeted.

In Baringo County also the minority community of Illchamus were locked out completely from the nomination lists despite getting a slot of minority in Baringo South constituency, unfortunately was given to the majority tugen.

The Illchamus community is also set to challenge the list of the nominees.
