Speaking on Monday in Zimmerman Nairobi, Kenneth said he was not the owner of the party and there was no way he was going to fold it.

Formed in 1991, the party was the campaign tool that Kenneth used for his 2013 presidential ambitions where he finished fourth with slightly over 70,000 votes.

In his remarks, Kenneth downplayed Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru who had called on him to close shop at KNC before joining Jubilee Party.

"I have submitted my resignation letter to the Registrar of Parties because it is evident I do not own any party. I am not the founder of KNC and therefore cannot call for its disbanding. If my resignation letter is considered, I will resign from KNC and join Jubilee and thereby support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for 2017 elections," said Kenneth.

This comes after Kenneth threw his support behind Jubilee government's re-election in 2017.

Kenneth has hinted at vying for Nairobi governor on a Jubilee ticket and this makes the party ticket nomination a hotly contested race with over five aspirants eying the ticket.

He also called on leaders to stop fanning propaganda that he was a Jubilee project aimed at taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022..
