Former chairman for defunct Kenya Football Federation (KFF) and Assistant Minister Peter Kenneth has tendered his resignation as Kenya National Congress (KNC) Party Leader.
Kenneth, who recently declared will support President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election made the decision as pressure piled on him to dissolve the party from Uhuru's allies.
Kenneth said he had informed the Registrar of political parties on his latest move.
on Sunday, Kieni MP Kanini Kega and Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa challenged the former Gatanga lawmaker to officially dissolve his party and use Jubilee Party for his Nairobi gubernatorial bid.
however, Kenneth insisted that the party was owned by a different individual, precipitating his resignation to formally join the President's team.
His shock move to Jubilee has been viewed as an early preparation for 2022 presidential elections after the retirement of Kenyatta, should he be reelected in 2017.
