Nairobi governor aspirant Peter Kenneth is proposing that the minimum wage for Nairobi residents should be higher than elsewhere in the country.He justifies this citing the high cost of living in the city.Kenneth who was quoted by Capital FM on Sunday said, “The cost of living in Nairobi is much higher than the other towns in Kenya.”Speaking on the eve of Labour Day celebration, Kenneth made the case for Nairobi’s minimum wage increment which may endear him to voters.He spoke during prayers for workers at St. Stephen’s church Jogoo Road just days after he lost the nomination for the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket to Nairobi senator Mike Sonko.Kenneth accused the party of conducting shambolic elections going by the number of complaints lodged at the party’s headquarters in Pangani.The highly acclaimed former MP says he is not done with Nairobi yet throwing in the possibility of running as an independent candidate.Kenneth was hailed as the best performing MP through the Constituency Development Fund (CD) when he represented Gatanga constituency.He was among the presidential aspirants in 2013 and has been away from the public since then only resurfacing some months before the Jubilee Party nominations. This is after he, and another presidential hopeful Martha Karua, backed President Uhuru Kenyatta for the top seat.He said corruption was rife during the primaries, “Let me tell you about the level of corruption I witnessed in the primaries. People were voting twenty times.''
