A few days after making a u-turn to support President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Meru Governor Peter Munya has been reinstated as the Party of National Unity leader.
Munya was ousted a PNU leader 21 days ago when he announced his support for opposition leader Raila Odinga.
His colleagues at PNU differed with the move, saying they were supporting Uhuru.
Now, the Registrar of Political Parties has reinstated him as PNU leader.
In a gazette notice published Friday, the Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung'u stated: "The list of party officials of the Party of National Unity as contained in Gazette Notice No. 8315 of 2017 is cancelled."
The earlier gazette notice ended Munya’s stay at the helm of PNU.
