[Photo|Ochieng Maddo]The hearing of election petition against Homa Bay County Governor Cyprian Awiti kicked off on Tuesday at the Homa Bay High Court. The first witness, Awiti's closest rival former gubernatorial aspirant Oyugi Magwanga took to the witness stand to tell the court how Awiti allegedly rigged him out in the August 8 general election. In the petition, Magwanga accuses the IEBC, County Returning Officer, Awiti denying him of his victory. He said he got over 218,000 votes against Awiti's 174,235.He wants the court to scrutinise and recount the votes and declare him the valid winner of the Homa Bay gubernatorial election.
