Former Kwale governor candidate Ali Chirau Mwakwere has suffered a major blow after the High Court threw out a petition against Governor Salim Mvurya.
Mvuyra was declared the winner in the gubernatorial race after August 8 elections.
Justice Mugure Thande said on Thursday that the petition was defective and incurable and cannot hold ground.
The petition which was filed by a voter, Mbwana Mwamlole, was seeking nullification of the election of Governor Mvurya.
Mwamlole also wanted the High Court to order for fresh polls.
Mwakwere served as Kenyan ambassador to Tanzania, before ditching Jubilee for Wiper ahead of the polls.
Mwakwere will now pay Sh2.5 million as the cost of the petition.
