Eldoret High Court will at the end of February make a determination as to whether August 8, 2017, parliamentary election of Marakwet East constituency was conducted in accordance with the law or not.

This is in relation to an election petition filed by a voter in the constituency, claiming the election was not free and fair.

The voter, Sammy Kemboi wants the election of the area MP David Bowen nullified.

Bowen who vied for the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket was declared the winner in the election after garnering 14,812 votes while former MP Linah Kilimo, a Jubilee candidate garnered 13,845.

Eldoret High Court Judge George Kanyi Kimondo on Tuesday said he would make a ruling in the case on February 27, 2018.This is after both parties made their final submissions on the case whose hearing was concluded in December.
