Former Meru Governor Peter Munya has insisted the petition challenging the election of Kiraitu Murungi as the new governor is till on.
Munya who tried to defend his seat on a PNU party ticket got 232,569 votes, losing to the Jubilee candidate who garnered 281,737 votes.
"I met the President at State House and he told us to resolve our differences without affecting his reelection bid. The petition is already in court and I am not going to withdraw it," Munya said.
He said the decision to file his petition was informed by his respect for those who voted for him.
"People who voted for me asked that I petition the results because they believed the election was not free and fair," Munya said.
Munya spoke on Tuesday during a live radio interview on Meru FM.
