A Kenyan has filed a petition to the National Assembly asking the parliament to start a process to declare the Kuria region a new County.

Allan Chacha, the petitioner, states that Kuria region should be made a County due to its marginalization. The petition also states that due to the constitutional provision, such demands from marginalize communities should be treated as urgent and important.

The Kuria community have faulted the larger Migori County which they are in for over time oppressing them. This, according to them is he man reason why they want a separation.

The petitioner further stated that the secession aims at averting the dominance from their Luo counterparts who have always used their numerical strengths to prioritize their needs.

Kura West MP Mathias Robi stated that the petition has set a good pace towards the 2019 constitutional review referendum.
