It has emerged that some petrol stations in the country are diluting petrol before selling it to customers as revealed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
The commission on Monday sent a statement to the media saying that some oil marketers are diluting oil, mostly petrol, before selling it to motorists. The commission, however, said it has blacklisted petrol stations being said to have been conducting the exercise.
It is shocking that the number of the blacklisted petrol stations is huge. 56 petrol stations have been blacklisted so far.
In the statement, the commission also said it conducted investigations from September last year to February this year, whereby, 56 stations were found non-compliant.
ERC also said it had called on the county commissioners to take away the station’s licenses. Other stations which also do not meet the set standards by the ERC will also have their licenses revoked by the county commissioners.
In Nairobi, the affected stations are Shell (Valley Road), Dakawou Transport and Roy Hauliers.
