A victim of the 2007/08 Post-Election Violence died on Friday, a day before President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto held a prayer rally at Nakuru's Afraha Stadium.
The death of the victim was revealed by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter through an interview with a local media station.
According to Mr Keter, the victim who he did not identify was buried on Saturday, hours after passing on at a hospital he did not name at Kapseret.
"As we speak there are people who are bearing the brunt of the 2007/08 Post-Election Violence," Keter was quoted as saying.
"Just yesterday (Friday) one of the victims who has been in hospital since 2008 died and was buried at Kapseret in Eldoret."
He spoke as President Kenyatta and DP Ruto addressed residents of Nakuru town at a prayer rally convened to celebrate the termination of Mr Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang's case at the International Criminal Court.
The termination of the cases were received with mixed reactions in the country with Cord leader Raila Odinga terming the development victory for impunity.
President Kenyatta said the ICC ruling that Mr Ruto and Mr Sang had no cases to answer offered the country an opportunity to reconcile.
"Clearly, as a nation, there is nothing to celebrate about. Instead, we have to reflect on the many critical decisions that we need to make. We have many people who we still need to condole and reparate and a national sense of justice that needs to be reconfirmed," Keter added.
He also criticised the Jubilee administration for abating run-away corruption.
"There is no problem with holding a thanksgiving ceremony, but first the leaders should repent for the trouble that they have caused the country and rampant cases of corruption in government."
