Pharmaceutical companies in Kenya has now been accused of colluding with private medical suppliers to set price of anti-diabetic drug higher than recommended by the government.

According to Kisii county health CEC Dr. Sarah Omache most of the patients who have been tasted as diabetic are not able to take drugs as recommended by the Doctors due to unaffordable prices of the drugs.

Speaking at Kisii General hospital during the World Diabetes day the CEC urged the National government to ensure that those involved in escalating the prices are arrested.

"In Kisii county alone we have about 10% of the population that has been tested to be diabetic but most of them can't afford the drugs due to the higher prices and we would like the national government to take action on the same," said Omache

The CEC also urged locals to ensure that they check on their lifestyle to reduce the number of new cases and also ensure that they get regular medical check-ups.
