Politicians are struggling to prove the credibility of their academic qualifications and Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is also a victim.
Many question his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certification. This was a point of discussion that almost denied him the most coveted Jubilee ticket.
The storm forced the Senator to accuse other leaders with the same problem including Governor 001 Hassan Joho and Peter Kenneth whom he mocked for scoring four Es at Starehe Boys Center. However, Sonko has said education is not a determinant of good governance.
“Leadership is not about education, it’s from God. Education should not be used to gauge leadership capabilities. I urge the next parliament to amend the election act. What have PHD holders like Kidero done for our country?” Sonko asked.
Senator Sonko singled out the incumbent governor Dr Evans Kidero as an example of poor leadership from scholars. He said that Dr Kidero siphoned millions from Mumias Sugar Company leading to its miseries.
He also said despite the well-schooled governor receiving billions from the national government, Nairobi is in a worst state than when Kidero took over.
He took an indirect swipe at Peter Kenneth for being mentioned in several scandals despite his admirable academic history.
