Tunoi faces allegations of bribery where he is accused of receiving a cash bribe from Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero to help him deliver the judgement which could ensure that he wins elections.

It is alleged that Kidero bribed Tunoi sh200 million to secure his office as the governor. However, both Kidero and Tunoi have denied the allegations. The governor said he has never been corrupt, therefore, the allegations were meant to destroy his image. He also called on the commission of inquiry formed by the president to carry out the duty of probing Tunoi accurately saying that if Tunoi is cleared, he will also be cleared of the allegations.

Governor Kidero maintains that he has never met Tunoi in private but has only seen him on television.

Tunoi prior to the break asked the tribunal set to probe him to carry out the case publicly unlike what the tribunal had wished- to conduct it in a private session. The tribunal is being chaired by Judge Sharad Rao.
