The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) earlier on announced that the subsequent loan application portal was open adding that the deadline for applying is 31st of this month.

The subsequent loan is applied online after which the applicants are expected to submit the forms  to HELB offices at Anniversary towers in Nairobi.

Many students from Maseno do not travel to Nairobi to submit their forms personally but always use a proxy to deliver the important documents.

Some of the students from the institution have taken this as a business opportunity and charge Sh50 to deliver HELB forms to Nairobi.

Reports indicate that one of the students collected the forms at a fee promising to deliver them at Anniversary towers in Nairobi only to dump them somewhere in the institution.

"It is so sad trusting someone with your vital documents only to find out he is making a fool out of you. The issue of HELB is a very sensitive matter which cannot be taken for granted. There are students who pay school fees with the HELB money. Whoever did this must be brought to book," Mercy Melly a third year student from the institution said.

Many students condemned the incident and warned their fellow comrades against trusting unknown people with their vital documents.

"Comrades should stop trusting people they do not know with their important documents. If you do not have any trusted friend from Nairobi you can  submit your form to the nearest Huduma Centre for submission. For instance there is one Huduma Centre in Kisumu just a few miles from here you can take your form there on your own other than trusting people who will fail you,"Jeff Otieno,  a forth year student from the institution stated.
