Residents neighbouring Kisii University had a reason to smile on Thursday afternoon after an organisation formed by the Kisii University scouts movement and the Kisii University flamingo group planted trees in some of their bare lands. This was under the 'Plant more trees campaign'.
They were also educated on the advantages of trees especially in controlling soil erosion because of the hilly topography of the area.
"Trees are a source of life and we should therefore remember to replace a tree every time you cut one," Moses Wachira, the scout commander said.
The residents promised to take care of the seedlings till they mature.
