Despite nature giving the locals a hard time, the locals of Mandera South had made use of the flood water to take pictures and share them on social media.
Kenyans were astonished as the residents stood in the water for selfies.
The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past weeks that has caused massive flooding and rendered many homeless.
Here are some of the reactions.
“These people seem to be turning a disaster into an opportunity. When life gives you bitter end, then find a way of turning that into joy for you,” says Millicent Achieng.
“We are sorry for what you guys our brothers and sisters are going through in Mandera. I however like the fact that you guys have accepted the situation as it is and I am seeing you are even taking selfies,” noted Joshua Sang.
“I see the rain has not only brought sadness but joy. At least you can now find a recreational facility at your disposal,” stated Maggie Maggie.
“Make use of it while it still lasts for after the rains come drought,” noted Lalamika Muntari.
Others however lashed at the national and county government for the floods.
“The county and national government can’t be serious about the ongoings in Mandera County. How comes up to now nothing has been done. How many people do you want to die so that you come to their rescue?” lamented Ibrahim Ahmed.
“This shows the kind of leadership in the country. Once elections are over is eat day until the next elections when they come and fool Kenyans again,” says Gurba Java.
Others wanted the Governor to be held responsible.
“The Governor should be held responsible for this disaster here. He had several months to prepare for the rains and he did nothing and this is the reason we are experiencing what we are experiencing right now. Poor leadership in the region” claimed Kadrah Mohamed.
